Shisha Coals & Heat: Natural vs Quick-Light
Coals and heat make or break a session. Get them right and the flavour sings; get them wrong and it's harsh. Here's what to know.
Natural vs quick-light
Natural coconut coals burn clean, last longer and taste better — but need a heat source to light fully. Quick-light coals are convenient but can add a chemical taste, especially if not fully lit. Most good lounges use naturals.
Heat management
A device like a Kaloud sits over the bowl and controls heat evenly, so you waste less shisha and avoid burning. It also means no foil-poking. Rotate coals every 10–15 minutes and remove one if the smoke turns harsh.
