About Shisha Venues
What this is
Shisha Venues is a directory of shisha lounges and hookah bars. It launched on 18 July 2026 and now lists around 23,000 active lounges in more than 90 countries, each with an address, opening hours, a rating and, where we have them, amenities and links to the venue’s own pages.
As of October 2026: 22,989 active lounges in 91 countries.
Where the data comes from
- Names, addresses, opening hours, ratings and per-person price ranges come from Google Maps listings. Price ranges are shown as Google reports them, not as a menu price.
- Flavour lists, where a venue has one, come from the venue’s own website and are checked line by line against that page. Many venues have none.
- Some website and social links come from Foursquare’s open Places dataset.
- Street-level views come from Mapillary, are labelled as Mapillary, and are not used as a photo of the venue.
- Venue descriptions and the “what visitors say” summaries are partly machine-written, from a venue’s own website text and from Google reviews. The review summaries say they are summaries; descriptions are not labelled one by one, so read them as a guide and check the venue’s own details. We only generate text where there is source material to work from.
- Closures are checked against Google’s listing status. A venue Google reports as permanently closed is marked closed on its page.
- Reviews written on this site are moderated.
The data is refreshed by scheduled jobs: one re-checks each venue’s Google listing for rating, hours and price range roughly every 90 days; one writes descriptions and review summaries where source text exists; and closure checks are run as separate passes.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell placement. No venue pays to be listed or to appear higher.
- We don’t use affiliate links.
- We don’t make our own “best of” judgements. Where a page orders venues, such as a city’s best list, the order comes from Google ratings weighted by how many ratings a venue has.
Owners can claim their listing for free to correct its details.
Corrections
Every venue page has a “Report a problem” control for closed venues, duplicates, venues that don’t serve shisha, and wrong details. You can also email [email protected] with the venue’s page address and what should change. If you run the venue, you can also contact us or use the claim link on its page.
Who runs it
Shisha Venues is run by an independent editorial desk. It is not published under a personal or company name; the way to reach it is the contact page, and how we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
